FREDERICKSBURG HOST LIONSCHARTERED NOVEMBER 24, 1938 ![]() OUR LIONS ROARVolume 67, Number 4 OCTOBER 2005 BOARD ACTIONSThe Board of Directors held its October meeting on October 6, 2005, at the home of Past President Dick Stephens. Nine board members were present. The board approved a contribution of $1,000 to LCIF for Hurricane Katrina relief which will count toward a Melvin Jones Fellowship for a Lion to be named at a later date. Lion Bob Moore will try to get the Country Club on March 10 for the reverse raffle. The Board also discussed the possibility of having a Christmas cocktail party in lieu of a regular dinner meeting if the party would not cost more than a regular meeting. There was a continuing discussion on the status of White House ornament sales. HALLOWEENJack Rowley, President Bob Sexton, Secretary and Editor CLUB ACTIVITIES FOR SEPTEMBERDuring the month of September, the Club made the following donations: Eye exams (9) $ 270 Eyeglasses(14) 919 Leader Dog School 1,000 Rappahannock Area American Red Cross 250 Activities other than cash donations included: (1) September 8 cookout at the home of Lion Rick and Lioness Margi Decatur, (2) September 22 dinner program by Janel Donohue, Director of the Rappahannock Area United Way, on the work of the United Way and help that participating agencies provide, (3) Sight and Hearing Screening Van at Lafayette Upper Middle School on September 29 and (4) President Jack Rowley and Lion Tom Clark visited Leader Dog School in Rochester, MI on September 28. SIGHT AND HEARING VANOn September 29 the club worked the Sight and Hearing Van at Lafayette Upper Middle School. Lions Stephens, Glover, Snyder, and Zeleznock, as well as Lioness Betty Monroe and Lucille Kimman screened 157 third graders as well as a few fifth graders between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM. Of those screened, there were 34 vision referrals and 2 hearing referrals. Our many thanks to our volunteers who worked the screening van. ![]() UPCOMING MEETINGS
